Culpeper Board of Supervisors Meetings
June 2, 2026
On June 2, 2026, members of the Richardsville Coalition presented their concerns to the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors regarding the proposed Valley Link transmission line and proposed 88-acre Yeat Substation.
During this meeting information was provided that confirmed the already approved 230-kV project is intended to provide power for Culpeper's approved datacenters, not the Valley Link project. Documentation provided confirmed that the Valley Link/Yeat project is a bulk transmission facility that does not directly serve Culpeper's local electric system. The meeting also confirmed that Culpeper County has authority over site permitting for the proposed substation. The Board of Supervisors voted 7-0 in favor of sending PJM a letter opposing the project in its current form. The document can be found here. Watch the full presentation here

Dominion Energy presented the proposed Valley Link project to the Culpeper Board of Supervisors. Board members asked direct questions about the project's purpose, public safety, environmental impacts, property owners, future expansion and community impacts. During the presentation Dominion representatives repeatedly acknowledged they did not now the answers to questions, declined or deferred to others, and in some cases, appeared to provide information conflicting with earlier statements about the project. Many of the boards most significant questions remained unanswered when the meeting concluded.
I encourage every resident to watch the presentation and draw their own comclusions. Watch the full presentation here
